Metal stallion in the city By Joji Alcantara
WHY the unusual name for a quaint looking two-storey house made of wood?
Originally a cozy hangout for bike riders, since the owner happens to be one, Iron Horse has evolved into more than just a bar joint.
Conveniently located within the Quimpo Compound along Rizal Street, native Filipino dishes are offered in an "Eat all you can ihaw-ihaw" and free flowing softdrinks daily from 6 to 10 in the evening for only P125 per person.
The charming and picturesque restaurant from the outside reminds you of your grandma's house in the province, while its cozy interiors are decorated with a very Filipino taste from wood furnishings to wall ornaments.
Its indoor posts are made of unpolished tree trunks preserved with age.
A rustic staircase whose railings are made of sturdy tree branches leads you to the second level, a perfect venue for private functions of around 30 people or less.
Smokers can avail of a little privacy and a chance to puff with delight in the balcony overlooking surrounding old trees and a view of the compound below. There's ample parking space too.
For reservations, you may call 3051723.
