Davao has lady entry in boxfest

ROGELEC Castanieto will be the lone Davao City female pug seeing action in the 2004 National Youth Open and Female Amateur Boxing Championships set May 23-29 in Panabo City.

Coach Leogene Siodina yesterday said Castanieto will join other Davao male boxers in the meet.

"She will compete in the female open event. Our seniors, however, will be playing for their school University of Mindanao (UM) Davao team," Siodina said.

Siodina also bared Davao's roster led by Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet champion Ale Brashary Cali, who is entered in the junior pinweight 45 to 47 kgs. category.

Davao's top bets also include Guiller Ramos (jr. lightweight-mosquitoweight), Danjary Sevilla (jr. paperweight), Moschulene Luceñara (jr. paperweight), Arven Diamale (paperweight, 42 kgs.), Reymar Diamale (light paperweight, 44 kgs.), Chareyno Quiapo (46 kgs.), Jonas Jeruzalem (jr. under-19 light flyweight, 48 kgs.); Richard Niño Moralde (flyweight, 51 kgs.), Jonas Baja (bantamweight, 54 kgs.), Mcjezon Baja (finweight, 57 kgs.), Darsi Sarabia (lightweight, 60 kgs.), Mike Merafuentes (light welterweight) and David Dalupe (middlweight).

Others in the team are Engelbert Moralde (kids 10-12, no weight to 26 kgs.), Carlo Ganot (light cottonweight, 27 kgs.), Franco Neri (cottonweight, 28 kgs.), Marc Gil Maglasang (light kiddieweight, 29 kgs.), Glendon Ramos Jr. (midget 12 under-15 light kiddieweight, 28-30 kgs.); Mark Anthony Maglasang Jr. (antweight, 30-32.5 kgs.), Warleto Añober Jr. (light minimum weight, 32.5-34.5 kgs.), Edwen Moralde Jr. (light powder weight, 36-37.5 kgs.).

Davao will be pitted against the best of Philippine Army (Ascom), Philippine Air Force and Philippine Navy teams along with Panabo, Sto. Tomas, Kapalong and Asuncion, Davao del Norte, Maramag, Bukidnon, General Santos City, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, Sorsogon City, Cagayan de Oro City, Pasig City, Mindoro, Baguio City, Gingoog City, Palawan, M'lang, North Cotabato, North Cotabato Province, Kidapawan City, Maasim, Leyte, Maasim, Sarangani, Pagadian City, Municipality of Manolo Fortich, Philippine Marine Corporation and South Cotabato.
