City-paid teachers to receive equal benefits By Raquel C. Bagnol
STARTING this school year, teachers, hired and paid by the city government, will be receiving the same benefits as the teachers hired by the national level. This was according to Marcelino Escalada Jr., head of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO).
"Gipaningkamutan gyod namo nga makadawat ug equal benefits ang mga teachers nga gi-hire sa local school board (LSB) and starting this school year, parehas na sa national level ang ilang benefits nga madawat," Escalada told Sun.Star in a telephone interview Monday.
Escalada said there are 358 locally paid teachers in the city, but as of Monday, teachers who shifted to national level have vacated 19 slots.
"Kulang man gyod ang items sa national level pero kun duna'y bakante, kining mga teachers nga locally-paid ang hatagan ug priority (if there's a vacant item in the national level, priority is given to locally-paid teachers)," Escalada said.
"We are maintaining 358 locally-paid teachers in the city so as of now, we are interviewing applicants for the 19 vacant slots," he said.
Locally paid teachers are receiving a Salary Grade 10 plus all the other benefits.
In an interview over radio station dxAB on Monday, assistant schools superintendent for the Elementary Department Benvienido Cuizon said Region 11 has most number of locally paid teachers.
