KORONADAL CITY -- A wide array of top agri-industrial, trade and eco-tourism products highlighting central Mindanao's economic potentials will be put on show at the 1st Agri-Industrial, Trade, Technology and Eco-Tourism Expo on July 16-23 in Koronadal City.
Dubbed as Lunay S'bung 2004 Expo, the weeklong event is a showcase of Region 12's best products and is also aimed at intensifying interest on the region's economic resource potentials, according to South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes.
"Lunay S'bung which means a gathering, serves as strategic opportunity to promote the vast potentials of Region 12," Fuentes said during the media launch of the expo at the Mindanao Business Talk program held recently in Koronadal City.
Fuentes added that the event is a confluence of efforts of several organizations, including the national line agencies, local government units, cities and provinces in the region.
Among the activities lined up for the expo include trade fair exhibit for processed food and handicrafts, as well technology training on alternative livelihood to help augment income of local folks.
The expo also offers Techno Seminars and Technical Sessions for local entrepreneurs to enhance their knowledge on new trends and technology, to be undertaken by the Department of Agriculture (DA) 12. The DA has collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 12 to hold a one-day South Cotabato Fruit and Allied Industries Conference and SME Forum on July 20.
A Science and Technology Exhibit by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 12 will also be among activities for Lunay S'bung.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) 12 is also holding the first Lineman's Skills Competition to test the expertise of linemen from the region's various power companies.
Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism (DOT) 12 is organizing a Travel Mart as part of Lunay S'bung to highlight and promote the must-see eco-tourism destinations in the region. MEDCo
