Taekwondo sparring

THE Taekwondo Sparring Meet gets underway Sunday, July 11, at the JT Fitness and Taekwondo Center along Bo. Obrero Street, Davao City.

Close to 100 participants are expected to strut their stuff in the one-day tournament supported by the Mindanao Taekwondo Association (MTA).

There will be six brackets in the boys category and four brackets in the girls division.

The Ateneo Taekwondo Club and Holiday Spa taekwondo club under Giovanni delos Santos are guests in the one-day tournament that aims to discover new talents who can be groomed to be champion jins in the future.

"We wish to discover potentials who will become champions and gold medalists in Mindanao-wide and national competitions as our previous sparring meets have produced," MTA training director Jun-Jun Te said in a recent sports forum.

The sports body, Te said, is also speeding up preparations for the 2nd Mindanao Taekwondo Age-group Championships and 2nd Davao Inter-Club Taekwondo Competition.

Special prizes will be up for grabs in the tournament.MLS
