Thursday, August 05, 2004 Age-group tennis fires off Aug. 20
THE first leg of the 2004 Prince-Nassau Jr. Age-Group Mindanao Satellite Circuit Tennis Championship will be held August 20-23 in Davao City.
Organizer Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) vice-president for Mindanao Juanito Cansino Jr. said the tournament will be homecoming of sorts for Manila-based Davao City netter Ralph Kevin Barte, who will see action in boys 16-under and 18-under events.
"Macy Solon of Dumaguete just confirmed her participation. We also expect Kennex Abadia of Cebu and Manila bets Mark Balse, Gerard Ngo and the Zoleta sisters who will then proceed here from the women's open tournament in General Santos," Cansino said.
He said they are still looking for a venue for the four-day, Group III netfest sanctioned by Philta and sponsored by Sports Resources Inc. and Prince as official ball.
Other events are 10-under unisex and 12-under and 14-under for boys and girls as well as girls 16-under and 18-under categories.
"All champions will receive trophies, Prince racket bags and calculators and Philta ranking points," Cansino said. MLS
