US will still fund Mindanao projects
By Jenny Molbog-Mendoza

THE government of the United States would still pour in at least $30 million for Mindanao development projects, Presidential Assistant for Mindanao Jesus Dureza said during an interview Friday morning.

Dureza said the United States, through USAid, still has the funds for Mindanao's development projects despite the pulling out of Philippine troops from Iraq.

"They are not taking it away," Dureza said.

Dureza said the US government might just reformat its programs, but will not definitely cancel them.

"Mindanao will not lose it," Dureza emphasized.

To recall, multi-donor groups have long been prepared with the development funds for Mindanao.

Dureza said that they are just waiting for the peace agreement between the government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to be signed. After which, the projects will immediately be implemented.

"Di pa alam kung kelan," Dureza ended.
