Councilman tries to break up fight, stabbed

A BARANGAY kagawad, who tried to break up a fight between two neighbors, ended up being stabbed in Manay, Davao Oriental, Saturday night.

Raguil Salisad, 32, a resident of Barangay Concepcion in Manay, was in fact not even around when the fight broke out.

"Tungod kay barangay kagawad akong bana, gitawag siya kay para mag-uwang sa duha (Since my husband is a barangay kagawad, he was called in to break up the fight)," Teresita, Salisad's wife, said.

Teresita said that a fistfight broke out between their neighbors Manuel Cadangdang and Manuel Dagansilong inside Dagansilong's yard at around 5 p.m.

Another neighbor sought out Salisad for help.

Salisad proceeded to Dagansilong's house and tried to break up the two.

Cadangdang stabbed him instead on the chest and fled upon seeing Salisad stagger from his wound.

Salisad was brought to a hospital in Davao Oriental by his wife and neighbors but was later transferred to the Davao Medical Center (DMC) because of the severity of his wound.

Later on the same night, another man, this time from Don Marcelino, Davao del Sur was brought to DMC after being stabbed by his neighbor.

Confined at the DMC is Laurel Tuado, 18, a resident of Lapuan in Don Marcelino, Davao del Sur.

Tuado was on his was home from a disco part at around 8 p.m. when one Ringgoy Matalanda joined him.

"Nakisabay siya sa akoa og uli kay nagbaktas lang man ko (He joined me walk towards home)," Tuado said.

For unknown reason, he said, Matalanda pulled out a knife, stabbed him on his stomach and ran away.

The victim managed to hail a passing tricycle and was brought to a hospital in Digos City before being transferred to the DMC. (JGR)
