Talomo nips Tamayong 5

LOPSIDED victories marred the Duterte Basketball League All-Muslim Cup elimination round Saturday at the Almendras gym.
Barangay Talomo crushed Barangay Tamayong, 80-63, while Pampanga dismantled Panacan, 68-42, in a pair of ho-hum sleepers.
Not to be outdone, Barangay Sirawan pulled off a convincing 84-61 victory over Barangay 31-D in this 19-team tournament organized by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte.
Barangay Waan likewise scored a win, beating Barangay 9-A in a closely-fought match, 66-61.
On Sunday, Sept. 19, Barangay 23-C trounced Barangay Tigatto, 78-69.
The event aimed to give Muslims a chance to showcase their talents and to foster camaraderie will end this November in time for the Ramadhan period.
Duterte had promised huge incentives for the winners, with the champion team bagging P50,000 and the second placer getting P30,000.
The third placer is assured of P25,000 and fourth P20,000.
The most valuable players, meanwhile, will pocket P10,000 and a trip to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
All the 19 teams are grouped in four brackets, with the top two teams in each bracket advancing to the quarterfinals, the start of the knockout phase.
