Chamber of commerce nominated anew for country's best chamber

THE Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has launched the yearly search for the most outstanding chamber all over the country.

The awarding ceremony is slated for October 6 at the Manila Hotel.

The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) is once again nominated this year.

Daniel Montecillo, DCCCII business development unit head, on Tuesday said the Chamber has a big chance of bagging the prestigious award once more.

"Malaki talaga ang edge ng Davao Chamber na manalo uli this year," he said.

Montecillo said there are a lot of reasons for the DCCCII to make it again, to wit: the projects it has been implementing since it was established; partnership with the local government of Davao City; relationship with other chambers (e.g membership in SME Development Council); basic services it provides (e.g. trainings), and advocacy programs (e.g. Davao City Business Conference).

DCCCII was awarded Most Outstanding Chamber of the Philippines in 1997 and 2003; Most Outstanding Chamber in Mindanao in 2002 and 2003; first runner up in 1995, 1999, and 2000.

Meanwhile, DCCCII gets recommendations from various agencies, both public and private, like the Mindanao Business Council (MBC), Mindanao Economic Development Council (Medco), National Economic Development Authority 11 (Neda 11), Department of Environment and Natural Resources 11 (DENR 11), Department of Trade and Industry 11 (DTI 11), City Government of Davao, Internet Cafes Association of Davao (Icad), Information and Communication Technology Council of Davao (ICT Council of Davao), Food Processors Association of Davao (FPAD), Floriculture Industry of Davao, Inc. (Fidi), Canadian International Development Agency (Cida), and Growth with Equity in Mindanao 2 Program (Gem2). (JMM)
