Boni seeks cops' support while Rody is on leave

COUNCILOR Bonifacio E. Militar on Tuesday called for a meeting with members of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) to gather updates about the various crimes being reported to the police.

Militar, who is appointed officer in charge (OIC) at the City Mayor's Office until Saturday, said that in the little time that he is appointed as the mayor, he wanted to be assured that this city is tightly secured.

Although earlier reports showed Militar is critical to the police because of the issue on unsolved summary killings, he still got perfect attendance of all the station commanders along with DCPO chief Sr. Supt. Conrado E. Laza during Tuesday's meeting.

"I appealed to them to give me support in the same manner that they have extended support to Mayor (Rodrigo) Duterte. I just wanted to meet them to give me a report or an update of the cases of robbery, theft and other cases that has been happening in this city. There should always be visibility of police in every street," Militar said.

Militar said that if something bad happens to this city while he is the OIC mayor, then it would mean that he cannot be an effective chief executive of the
city.

Militar, however, failed to answer queries whether or not he has plans of running as mayor in future elections. (AAG)
