New police unit in R-11 created to fight terror
A NEW, strengthened and more extensive police command was recently created to go against terrorists and criminals operating in Region 11.
Dubbed as the Eastern Mindanao Police Command (EMPD), the group will be headed by newly appointed Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 director Simeon Dizon.
Philippine National Police Director General Edgardo Aglipay said the new command would handle all anti-terrorism activities and programs in the eastern Mindanao region in cooperation with peace and order councils.
Aglipay appointed Chief Supt. Dizon during last week's formal turn over of command at the PRO 11 headquarters in Camp Catitipan.
Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 11 chair Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, meanwhile, expressed his full support to the newly created police command.
Dizon promised to do his best to deliver what is expected of him as chief of the EMPC, in his concurrent capacity as PRO 11 director. (BOT)
