Hotel, resort industry booms in Davao Oriental

HOTEL and resort industry is a booming sector in Davao Oriental and is expected to be one of the top income-generating sectors of the province, according to Lyrna Palma, tourism officer of Davao Oriental.

Davao Oriental is one of the 16 attractive pavilions showcased at Wow Mindanao Exposition 2004 at SM City grounds.

Palma said resorts and hotels in Davao Oriental are designed to further feel the oneness of man and nature, making tourists and other visitors enjoy their stay in the province.

"In the province, you can stay in a resort na ma-feel gyud nimo ang nature. Kaya I'm sure you'll really enjoy your stay in the province," she said.

Palma said the province, being one of the identified eco-tourism destinations in Mindanao, is not just a place where one can experience the wonders of nature, but also a place to realize the significance of nature to the people.

Indeed, she said, Davao Oriental is a paradise worthy to be experienced.

Among the main attractions of the province are the Pujada Island in Mati, Cape San Agustin in Governor Generoso, San Victor Island in Baganga, Dinosaur Island in Mati, Pygmy Forest in San Isidro, Aliwagwag Falls in Cateel, Banayan Falls in Banaybanay, Cabugao Island in Boston, among others.

And if you want to see and experience all of these wonders, Palma said that one can stay in hotels like the Provincial Tourism Economy Class Hotel, Hotel Beatrice (newly-opened), Roque's Pension House and Garden Restaurant, Hideaway Inn, GSP Homestay, and Ursuline.

Visitors will also have an option to stay in one of the province's resorts, to wit: Masao Beach Resort, Gregorio Beach Resort, Resurrection Beach Resort, Pujada Bay Resort, Mangguihay Beach Resort, and Botona Beach Resort. (JMM)
