Campus idols continue to impress crowd

YOUR favorite campus idols will still be at the AmphiTheater of Victoria Plaza for more performances.

The free show starts at 4:40 p.m. Friday.

Last Saturday, the judges were so impressed by the performances of 15 contestants to Campus Idols title, declaring it the most entertaining week so far in the five-week-old campus-based personality show.

"You surprised us all," said ABS-CBN Davao director Beling Rodriguez who is one of the deans.

The crowd yelled in approval.

There was no seriousness among the contestants unlike the previous weeks.

After all, it was the week that the finalists showed their most comic trick.

All Campus Idols hopefuls displayed their wackiest performance in the question-and-reaction portion where the host, Joey C., asked them to act in a very amusing situation.

The Campus Idols also presented their very best dance performance in the group presentation.

The 15 finalists were divided into three bunches with five members each.

Group three--composed of Erwin Jay Pantujan, Miles Ignacio, Valerie Garcia, KimKim Budac, and Marty Lam--won the best group presentation with their Moulin Rouge-inspired performance.

The team of Regs Ledesma, Jefferson Yeo, John Hernan Mendoza, Pipit Tuvilla, and Kenot Larion, on the other hand, won the best project for their novelty songs medley presentation where they spoofed scenes from Marina and Feng Shui and danced to the hits of Hot Babes, Parokya ni Edgar, Bayani Agbayani, Vhong Navarro and other latest funny songs.

In the individual standing, Ken Larion was named as the best male performance for his short but amusing gay role, while Valerie Garcia got the best female act for her English-speaking hooker scene.

But in the end, the panel of deans--composed of Rodriguez, Close-Up account specialist Alvin Purugganan, and Blugr‚ Coffee owner Larcy Gatchalian-declared the pair of Valerie Garcia and Erwin Jay Pantujan as the Campus Idols of the Week.

It was the third weekly feat for Garcia and the first for Pantujan.
