Purefoods 3-on-3 basketball tips off Oct. 17 at Gaisano
MORE exciting action awaits basketball enthusiasts as the first-ever Purefoods TJ Hotdog 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament kicks off on October 17 at the Gaisano Mall of Davao.
Tournament director Pochollo Elegino, guesting at the regular Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn yesterday, said the TJ 3 on 3 is more fun and more exciting than other 3 on 3 events held here in the past.
He said classmates, schoolmates, friends and neighbors can form a team together to participate in the event held in coordination with the Top Sports Advantage Inc.
"We are limiting teams to only 25 due to time constraints. We have the 13 to 15 years old category and the 16 to 19 event," Elegino said.
The teams, according to Elegino, will be grouped into four brackets in each age group.
One bracket will be composed of seven teams while three other brackets with six teams each.
"The teams will play a single round robin format in their respective brackets where the top two teams will advance to the quarter-finals," Elegino said.
Purefoods spokesperson Joanne Miranda said cash prizes of P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,500 will be awarded to the top four finishers, respectively.
"The champion team will also get a trophy and individual medals for the players," Miranda said.
Julius Nulla, also of Purefoods, added there will be side events to be featured during the event.
Samplings of all San Miguel Corporation subsidiaries will also be made available as an added attraction to spectators.
"The Oct. 17 schedule is the elimination round for the 13-15 event while the 16-19 elimination is set on October 23. All quarter-final, semi-final and championship matches are slated on October 24," Miranda said.
Registration forms are available at Purefoods-Hormel booth at the Gaisano Mall of Davao supermarket.
