City to set up one-stop shop to address biz woes
By Jenny Molbog-Mendoza

IN A bid to serve the business sector better and address complaints concerning delays in the processing of business documents, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is setting up a one-stop shop for a speedy government action on the needs of business enterprises.

DTI-Davao City Field Office director Teolulo Pasawa said during an interview last week that they are now on the stage of extensive planning for the implementation of the Davao Express Business Center, which they want to set up by December.

"We are working hard as of now in order to set up the center by December," he said.

Pasawa said the one-stop center is a pilot project anchored on delivering better and speedy services to the business sector.

"Businessmen can already process all of their documents in one area," Pasawa said.

"This is like a one-go shop. Every office na kailangan nilang puntahan para mag-file ng kanilang business documents ay makikita na rito. 'Yan kasi ang problema na kadalasang sinasabi sa amin, ang tagal daw ng processing ng documents kasi malalayo ang mga offices. Kaya, dadalhin namin sa center na 'to lahat ng government agencies na kailangang puntahan para makakuha ng business permit," he said.

Pasawa said among the government agencies that they are bringing in the center are the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), Social Security System (SSS), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Among the major functions of the center, which Pasawa has discussed, were: registration and issuance of permits and facilitate service to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He said the center will also serve as an investment promotion venue.

"Right now, we are discussing with other agencies kung ano ang mga problemang kinakarap ng bawat agency at kung paano ito mabibigyan ng solusyon. By the time na ma-implement ang center, we will be working closely with the existing business support organizations," he said.
