Bunawan, Waan in KO match By Marianne L. Saberon
BARANGAYS Bunawan and Waan will meet in a rubber match Saturday, with the winner advancing to the finals of the 2004 Duterte Basketball League All-Muslim Cup.
The game, set at 9 p.m. at the Almendras gym, will be the third for both teams after splitting the first two in this best-of-three affair.
Waan took the series opener but Bunawan forced a decider with an 84-74 win Wednesday night.
Tonight's winner will arrange a titular showdown with the victor of the other best-of-three semis match between Barangay 23-C and Barangay 21-C.
City sports coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go, who is also Mayor Duterte's executive assistant, Friday said schedules for the finals will be known soon after he had consulted with the team representatives.
"The Ramadan period is still ongoing," Go said. The champion team here will receive P50,000 while the second, third and fourth finishers will P30,000, P25,000 and P20,000, respectively.
The cagefest is sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) under regional director Regino Cua.
