THE Davao City edged Bukidnon, 2-1, to grab its third straight win Tuesday afternoon in the Adidas U-19 Southern-Northern Mindanao Qualifying Tournament at Camp Phillips, Bukidnon.
The Davao booters, under the coach Ramonito Carreon, were eyeing their fourth win against Cagayan de Oro whom they are playing as of press time.
Carreon's wards tote a clean 3-0, win-loss slate with nine points to keep the top post in the team standings of the bootfest organized by the Philippine Football Federation.
Davao demolished Iligan, 9-1, and Butuan, 4-1, in the first two days of the meet.
In other matches, Cagayan de Oro downed Butuan, 4-1, while Iligan scourged Cotabato, 8-2.
Iligan and Cagayan de Oro each has a two-win, one-loss record each with six points apiece while Butuan, Bukidnon and Cotabato each holds 1-2 card for identical three points.
Struggling at the bottom is Cotabato squad, which lost all its past three games in the qualifying event where the top two teams will reprsent the region to the national finals in Cebu City on December 1 to 5.
Iligan was set to collide with Butuan while Bukidnon was pitted against Cotabato late Wednesday afternoon.
Iligan overcame Bukidnon, 6-2, while the latter scored a 4-1 win over Cagayan de Oro earlier and Butuan blanked Cotabato 4-0 in earlier games.
A free trip to Cebu via SuperFerry passenger vessel ship awaits the top two squads in the qualifying event.
