Medvil, Hambusa reach finals
HIGHLY touted Medvil and Hambusa arranged a titular showdown after ousting their rivals in the semi-final round of the DFA Cup division 2 tournament at the Tiongko football grounds Saturday afternoon.
Medvil beat Emar Learning Center, 3-1, at field 1 while Hambusa dusted off Davao U-14, 10-1, over at field 2.
Emar's Arvin Valencia opened scoring by knocking in a goal in the 32nd minute but Medvil's Buboy Arieta leveled the match 1-1 with a goal in the 36th.
Veteran striker Francisco "Iko" Villano struck for two goals (46th, 79th) to seal Medvil's win enroute to the finals along with rival contender Hambusa.
Julio Orcasitas and Jerome Balaga led scoring for Hambusa with two goals each.
Orcasitas hit in the 30th and 76th while Balaga kicked in the 39th and 68th.
Other Hambusa scorers were Rene Valdesco (35th), Alan Presto (42), Rodelo Montuya (50th), Edgar San Mateo (62nd), Ariel Subaldo (66th) and Von Eder (70th).
Darwin Salabia scored in the 46th for the lone goal of Davao U-14 in the Davao Football Association (DFA)-organized meet.
The finals match is set on Saturday, November 27. (MLS)
