Class B damafest opens at Osmeña
THE class B division of the Mayor Duterte Christmas Dama Tournament opens at the Osmeña Park Sunday, December 12.
The event is open to juniors and seniors players who are residents of Davao City.
"It will be a knockout format tournament. The top three players in the elimination round will enter the semi-finals," Davao City Dama Association president Fidel Villegas said during a recent sports forum.
The first to third placers in the junior and senior categories of each class, according to Villegas, will play a single round-robin format in the finals.
The player with the most number of points will be declared champion while the next two highest will be the runners-up.
Class C matches were still ongoing as of press time. The class A division will get underway tomorrow, Monday.
Villegas said the class A champion will claim a cash prize of P5,000. The second and third placers will get P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.
The top three players in classes B and C will get P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000.
International Dama Association Federation (Idaf) rules will be applied in the damafest presented by Duterte. (MLS)
