Policeman charged for grave threats
THE City Prosecutor's Office (CPO) has formally charged a Davao-based policeman who was accused of threatening to lob grenades at his neighbor's house in Bangkal, Davao City in September last year.
Prosecutor Augusto Gonzales recommended the filing of charges for grave threats against PO1 Ruel Desierto after finding probable cause that he may be guilty of the offense.
Gonzales based his resolution on the complaint filed by James Ong, Desierto's neighbor in NHA, Bangkal.
In his affidavit, Ong claimed that at around 8:30 p.m. on September 1, 2003, Desierto allegedly threatened to explode two hand grenades at his house.
Ong said that because of fear, he immediately went inside his house and locked his doors.
Desierto however denied the allegations in his counter-affidavit and claimed that Ong just fabricated the charges because of long-time personal grudges.
Desierto said Ong wanted him to be kicked out of the Philippine National Police (PNP) because he once apprehended Ong for some violations.
The CPO gave more credit to Ong's accusations and formally filed charges against the policeman. (RCB)
