Floirendo eyes modern boxing gym in Panabo
TO seal its name as the new boxing capital in Southern Mindanao, Panabo City is set to construct a modern two million worth boxing gym in the summer of 2005.
Davao del Norte's second district Congressman Tony Boy Floirendo said the boxing arena, complete with modern sets of boxing equipment, will be constructed at the park near Panabo's City Hall located at the heart of the second class city.
Floirendo said the gymnasium aimed at providing a good training venue for promising boxers in Davao del Norte will end and be inaugurated in the middle of next year.
"This venue will be at par with those other venues in the country," Floirendo said.
He also said that a non-government organization advocating for youth and sports will be the one to manage the gym.
"This NGO will make sure that the gymnasium will be protected and used properly," the congressman added.
The brain behind the successful Barangay Una Boxing program in Davao del Norte revealed that the gymnasium will also be utilized as sleeping quarters for boxers in the province of Davao del Norte.
Further, he said the gymnasium will also be his legacy for the whole province once his term ends.
