Government execs to grace finance forum
By Jenny Molbog-Mendoza

TOP government finance officials are expected to grace the Financing and Property Forum slated on January 7 at Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City.

Trade and Industry Secretary Cesar Purisima and Jobs Generation Secretary Luis Lorenzo, also the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) chair, are among those invited as speakers during the forum to be attended by Mindanao's small and medium entrepreneurs.

Department of Trade and Industry 11 regional Director Merly Cruz said that the two speakers will tackle issues that concern assets and small and medium-scale enterprise (SME) mobilization and its impact to job creation and thrusts of LBP and Quedan and Rural Credit Guarantee Corporation (Quedancor) for micro and SME lending respectively.

Lorenzo is also the Quedancor chair.

The one-day event will benefit SMEs who would like to acquire assets but with no definite source of financial assistance yet.

"Isianabay na nga namin ang forum sa property fai para ma-serve ang dalawang purpose. One is to readily provide them with a list of assets which they possibly need. Ipapakita 'yan sa property fair natin. Second is to give them an idea kung paano maka-avail ng loans. We have invited a number of government financial institutions na pwedeng tumulong sa kanila," she said.

Bearing the theme "Mobilization of Assets and SMEs toward Job Creation", the forum is expected to address issues concerning SMEs, in an attempt to provide them better business capacity.
