City's tax collection up P289.8M in 2004 By Jenny Molbog-Mendoza
THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)-Revenue District Office (RDO) 113 has collected a whopping P3,072,839,965.47 for the year 2004, showing an increase of P289,820,358.82 from the previous year's collection.
Evelyn Sardido, RDO 113 district officer, said in a phone interview Tuesday their total collection could have reached at least P3.1 billion if the tax debit memo (TDM) amounting to P32.7 million has been included in the computation.
Sardido said they have surpassed their collection target in 2004, which was pegged at P3,035,800,000.
"This could have been brought about by massive tax information campaign coupled with intensified collection measures. Last year kasi talagang malakas ang cooperation between our personnel and the taxpayers," she said.
Sardido said the city being known as a trading center has produced a lot of taxpayers who have contributed to the success of the agency's amplified tax collection last year.
RDO 113 has been consistent the past three years in its collection performance, having exceeded collection goals from 2001 to 2004.
Sardido expressed optimism the district will again surpass its target for 2005. For Davao bisaya stories.Click here.
