Dad urges police, task force: Find Chinoy traders

DAVAO City Councilor Bonifacio E. Militar Tuesday urged the police and Task Force Davao (TFD) to locate the three Chinese-Filipino businessmen, who have been reported missing for weeks.

In a privilege speech during Tuesday's regular session of the City Council, Militar said the families of the missing personalities are now in agony.

"If these people were killed, their families want to see their bodies. What are the police doing about his matter? What is the Task Force Davao doing? You are here to protect the people of Davao," Militar said.

Based on ABS-CBN report, the missing Filipino-Chinese businessmen were identified as Philip Lam, reportedly owner of Maxim Restaurant located along F. Torres St., Jimmy Yap and Dr. Martin Lu.

The three reportedly went bar hopping two weeks ago but failed to return home.

The car used by the three was found parked in front of ET-KTV establishment in Ecoland.

Reports further revealed that a P10 million ransom was demanded from the family who were advised to go to General Santos City to see the condition of the three.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, however, denied during Monday's press conference at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Regional Office that Lam, Yap and Lu were abducted.

The three, Duterte said, were reportedly seen at the establishment beside ET-KTV Lounge having dinner together with TFD chief Colonel Eduardo del Rosario when the reports about the alleged abduction came out.

The Davao City Police Office was tight-lipped for several days claiming that no kidnapping reports reached their office.

Del Rosario, for his part, said the TFD will exert all efforts to help the family of the missing businessmen.

"The TFD is willing to support the lead agency conducting the investigation in whatever capacity that our assistance is needed," del Rosario said. (AAG)
