GenSan bets rule swimfest

THE Dadiangas Torpedoes Swim Club edged Coastland Davao Swim Team (CDST) to emerge champion in the 1st Koronadal Invitational Age-Group Sprint Meet at the Koronadal City Sports Complex over the weekend.

Dadiangas amassed 926 points while runner-up CDST garnered 877. The host Sea Lions Swim Team of Koronadal City placed third with 814 points.

Sanctioning Philippine Amateur Association (Pasa) president Mark Joseph awarded the medals to the winners of the two-day tournament.

Bea Marie Nazareno pulled off a surprise by hauling a total of eight gold medals and one silver--the best finish for a CDST member. She topped the girls 9 to 10 category for her feat.

BIMP Eaga Friendship Games and Ched Palaro multi-gold medallist Carlo Rodriguez, cousins Celina and Jose Joaquin Gonzalez also shone for CDST.

Rodriguez, a varsity swimmer at the Holy Cross of Davao College, got seven golds and one silver in the 18-above boys event while Celina clinched seven golds and one bronze in girls 11-12 and Jose Joaquin collected seven golds and one silver in boys 11-12.

CDST tanker CooCoo Regidor added two goals and two silvers in the girls six and under division.

The other CDST medalists were Uno Evangelista, Bajjio Malabanan, Dom Venuti, Allan Jovero, Amanda Kehl, Katrina Aguelo, Stephanie Decierdo, Alyanna Malabanan, Erika Nazareno, Windee Pobre, Trixie Pineda, Gianina Gonzalez and Julliani Rodriguez.

Patrick Pineda, Joshua Protacio, Macky Cuison, Boggey Angala, Cacai Regidor, Xina Evangelista, Ethel Pobre, Inna Labao, Jessica Pineda, Angela Cuison and Rachel Kehl.
