Tanods maul 2 rugby boys
By Joy G. Romares

TWO minors caught sniffing rugby were allegedly mauled by three barangay policemen in Barangay San Vicente, Agdao, Davao City, Thursday dawn.

Ronald, 16, of Gotamco, Agdao, and his friend Archie (names withheld for being minors), 17, of San Antonio in Agdao, were endorsed by barangay policemen to the
Sta. Ana police precinct at around 3 a.m. with bruises in the different parts of their body.

Carino Salva, Eldefonso Libre, and one Pastor Escala, barangay policemen of barangay San Vicente in Gotamco told the police that the victims were seen sniffing a cellophane of rugby along the roadside prompting them to arrest the minors.

The barangay policemen then turned the minors over to the Agado Community police outpost who in turn endorsed them to the Sta. Ana police.

The minors claimed that they were mauled by the three barangay policemen but the barangay policemen said the minors tried to resisted arrest and tried to escape.

Police recovered dried rugby inside a plastic bag from each of the suspect.

Ronald was found to be in possession of three live bullets of caliber .38 revolver.

The case was referred to the Women and Children's Desk of the Sta. Ana police precinct.
