Milo tae kwon do clinic at Marco
PREPARATIONS shift to high gear for the 2005 Milo Summer Taekwondo Clinic.
"We have yet to pin down the schedule but we will start mid-March," Davao Central Taekwondo Center chief instructor Johnny Kim said in the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum Thursday at the Tower Inn.
Kim said close to 1,000 students are expected to participate in the clinic, surpassing the over 500 students enrolled in last year's edition.
He added the Davao Central Taekwondo Center moved to its new home at The Marco Polo Hotel to better serve its students in a safer environment.
The center used to occupy a building along Ponciano Crooked Road.
"The move was necessary since most parents and students did not feel good about bystanders hanging outside the gym by the road. They want to be assured of their children's safety," Kim said.
Kim, also the regional director and Mindanao president of the Philippine Taekwondo Association, said The Marco Polo is very supportive of the development.
"What we have been occupying at The Marco Polo is smaller than the one at Crooked Road. That's why our classes will have varied schedules," Kim said.
"Marco Polo, however, is planning to construct a tae kwon do gym beside the swimming pool but the general manager said construction may yet start at the end of the year," he added. (MLS)
