Test center for US licensure now open
By Aurea Gerundio

A TEST preparation center that aims to help Filipino students and professionals prepare for the United States (US) Licensure and university admissions exams opened in Davao City.

Though formal classes are yet to start, the International Cultural Studies and Education Corporation (Icsec) opened a branch at the 2nd Floor of Milagros Building, San Pedro corner Illustre Streets, Davao City on February 15.

Icsec is said to be the exclusive licensee in the Philippines of Kaplan Incorporated, an educational subsidiary of the Washington Post Company and is the world leader in test preparation.

Cris del Monte, manager of the Icsec-Kaplan Davao Center, said during the Kapihan sa PIA forum Saturday that the opening of classes for the courses offered by the Icsec will start in April.

"Since the opening of the center on February 15, marami na kaming na-receive na inquiries. We have also conducted seminars already to two batches of prospected enrollees," del Monte said.

Icsec-Kaplan Manila Center manager Julius Paul Gerardo claimed that their test center is different from other test centers as they limit the number of students enrolling in a particular program.

"Kung sa ibang test centers umaabot ng 100 students sa isang course, sa Icsec we limit to 30 students sa isang course para matutukan talaga sila," Gerardo said.

Icsec-Kaplan Makati Center director Ma. Aurora Diaz said several universities have already requested the Icsec to facilitate the review for their students who will be taking board exams.

Diaz claimed that 85 to 90 percent of those who undergo Icsec review could pass the US Licensure and University Admissions Exams. Diaz said the test preparation programs offered by the Icsec is affordable.

Some of the Kaplan Test Prep Programs are:

For English Program

- Test of English as a Foreign Language at P17,000 for three months.
