Pacman picked to win by KO By Charles Raymond A. Maxey
WHEN Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales fire blistering punches atop the ring on March 19 in Las Vegas, the Filipino ring warrior will come out the winner.
That's according to Boxing Times, which predicted Pacquiao to win via an eight-round knockout in the blockbuster super featherweight bout.
Boxing Times cited Pacquiao's speed and fighting style will prove too much for Morales, the former three-time world champion from Mexico.
"The conventional wisdom has this fight coming out one of two ways, either Morales by 12 round decision or Pacquiao by knockout. That said, Pacquiao has been sensational in training. He made weight early and Freddie Roach has the Filipino star in razor-sharp condition," Boxing Times said.
"If Morales starts slow we look for Pacquiao to jump on him early and to continue to land blazing left crosses down the middle. We believe that the southpaw's punch output and style is going to catch up with the future Hall of Famer Morales," it added.
The prediction came with just only five days to go before Pacquiao squares off with Morales in an HBO pay-per-view clash at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Pacquiao is a 6-5 favorite entering the fight, and has been leading in all boxing website's on-line polls, including Top Rank which gave him 60 percent to Morales' 40.
The Filipino southpaw from General Santos City is expected to wind up his training today at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
After that, Pacquiao and his entourage will travel to Las Vegas by land.
Morales holds a record of 47 wins, two defeats with 34 KO's, while Pacquiao is coming into the fight with a slate of 39 wins, two defeats, two draws with 31 stoppages.
