Cebu cagers reach semis By Marianne L. Saberon
THE University of Visayas (UV)-bannered Goldstar crushed St. Franselle, 118-85, Monday night to enter the cross-over semi-finals set late Tuesday at the Almendras Gym.
Goldstar, with former PBA cagers Boy Cabahug and Al Solis as coaches, will try to avenge its loss to elimination round tormentor North Cotabato Braves in their 5:30 p.m. encounter Tuesday.
The Braves were unbeaten after five games to grab the No. 1 spot in the elimination round of the cagefest presented by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
Goldstar finished at No. 4 while Montaña placed second and the Duterte Agilas was third.
The Agilas and the Jewellers were also pitted in a sudden death semis match.
Cash prizes and trophies await the winners in the cagefest sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) under regional director Regino Cua.
The championship match is set at 7 p.m. today while the battle for third place is at 5:30 p.m.
