2,000 cops guard 'Araw ng Dabaw'

AROUND 2,000 policemen were deployed to watch for the security of Dabawenyos in celebration for the 68th Araw ng Dabaw Wednesday.

Colonel Conrado E. Laza, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief, said Wednesday the policemen were deployed in 10 major streets in the city surrounding the Disco sa Kanto, Tuesday night.

Laza, in a radio interview, said the "Disco sa Kanto" celebration was quite successful aside from some incidents that could not be expected.

Laza added that he has ordered the strict implementation of the anti-smoking ordinance, liquor ban ordinance, and curfew on minors on the different police precincts in the city.

The anti-smoking ordinance, liquor ban, and curfew on minors were also implemented during last year's Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

This is to avoid trouble on the streets during the celebration, Laza said. (JGR)
