Gang riot breaks out in street bash, 1 dies
By Joy G. Romares

THE festivities at the "Disco sa Kanto" at the corner of Rizal and Bolton Streets Tuesday night was broken up when two warring teeners clashed, leaving one dead.

Stabbed to death was one Antonio "Poloy" Laurente, 17, of Washington Street in Barangay 39-D, and said to be a member of the 'Bad Fish' gang.

Laurente's companion, Barry Orit, 19, of Purok 9, Barangay 39-D, is confined at Davao Medical Center (DMC) for a lone stab wound.

SPO2 Jayreuben Plaza of the San Pedro Police said the incident happened at around 11 p.m. while Laurente's group was celebrating with hundreds of others in the Disco sa Kanto.

Plaza said the attackers belonged to the RIP Gang, two members of whom were identified: Abonaim and Adrian (surnames withheld for being minors), both 17 years old.

Laurente died of multiple stab wounds while Orit sustained a stab wound in the back.

Abonaim and Adrian are now detained at the San Pedro police precinct while their companions were able to elude arrest.
