Big waves kill 3 in Davao Sur
THREE minors died, another one is missing, while four others survived after a big wave hit them while they were swimming at a beach in Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur, Saturday morning.
Michael Guttierez, 19, of Bulacan, Catherine Flores, 17, of Sto. Rosario, and one Glenda Alcuino, 16, of Kilusad in Sta. Maria were killed after they were drowned by big waves at around 6 a.m.
Mary Jane Alcuino, 15, Rosabel Alcuino, 13, Daisy Joy Davis, 16, and one Analyn delos Cientos, 11, survived after they were brought to Pineda Clinic by responding residents of the area.
But one Mark Gutierrez, companion of the victims, is still missing as of press time.
Survivors said they were swimming at a beach in Sitio Babak, Barangay Kilusad, when big waves attacked them and dragged them to the deeper portion of the sea. (JGR/NC)
