Davao Oriental to have new Capitol building soon
DAVAO Oriental will soon be enjoying a new provincial capitol building to replace the old one, which is already dilapidated.
"A P35 million three-storey building is now under construction and we are happy to say that we have acquired the funds from generous donors and sponsors," Davao Oriental Governor Ma. Elena Palma Gil said during a press conference Thursday in Mati, Davao Oriental.
She said it would cost the province much more to have the old building repaired.
Palma Gil said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has approved the P10 million financial assistance for the ongoing provincial capitol building.
She said the taken from the president's social fund.
She said a partial amount of P5 million has already been released from Arroyo's fund.
Vice President Noli de Castro also gave P2 million assistance.
"Some of the funds were donated by several government officials and other generous donors. With the completion of the new capitol building, we will be able to give better services to the constituents of the province," Palma Gil said. (RCB)
