General Santos 'bomber' facing raps in Davao

* Suspect arrested in Glan, Saturday, with warrant of arrest from Davao city court for multiple murder and frustrated murder
* Suspect now with General Santos Police
* No raps yet filed against suspect for public market bombing last December 12, 2004

THE Sarangani Provincial Police Office arrested a suspect in the December 12 bombing of a public market in General Santos City, Saturday, with the aid of an arrest warrant issued by a Davao City court.

Andy Budiang of Purok 4 in Glan, Sarangani Province was arrested at home, Superintendent Efren Valeriano, Sarangani police chief, said.

The arrest was executed after the Sarangani police got a copy of the warrant of arrest issued against Budiang by a Davao City court for multiple murder and frustrated murder.

Budiang, however, still have to be sued for his alleged role in the public market bombing in General Santos.

"We already turned him over to General Santos City Police command for tactical interrogation. It's up to the city police to file the necessary charges after a tactical interrogation," Valeriano said.

Valeriano said that aside from being a suspect in the General Santos bombing, Budiang is also a suspect in various cases of sea piracy, highway robbery, and other crimes in Sarangani. (AZ)
