Mati awards 31 houses to homeless residents
* 30 more houses being built; beneficiaries for new houses are homeless in Dahican
THE local government of Mati along with Davao Oriental Representative Mayo Almario and some non-government organizations awarded 31 new houses to homeless beneficiaries last Saturday.
Mati Mayor Francisco G. Rabat said the beneficiaries are urban poor from the barangays of Guang-guang and Sudlon as well as members of the Muslim-Christian Homeowners Association of his municipality.
Eight houses in the Sudlon resettlement area while 23 core shelters in the Guang-guang area were awarded by Almario and Rabat to the beneficiaries during a turn over ceremony in Guang-guang last March 18.
The Sudlon houses reportedly cost P300,000 while Guang-guang core shelters amounted to P700,000.
This is aside from the amount spent for the purchase of the lots all shouldered by the municipal government and congressman Almario.
Rabat said they have another housing project in Dahican where 30 new houses are nearing completion.
He said the beneficiaries this time would be the homeless Muslims and Chrisitians in the area. (BOT)
