Alert level down from red to orange By Ben O. Tesiorna
MAYOR Rodrigo Duterte recently downgraded the alert level for the public from red to orange.
Duterte, however, assured that the police and the military are still on red alert to ensure that no terrorist attack would happen again in the city.
He said the threat of a terror attack had somehow lessened than during the Holy Week. He said his decision to downgrade was for the Dabawenyos to somehow take a breather from the threat.
Earlier, the mayor said they would soon allow the entry of ambulant vendors back at the premises of the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal.
He said as soon as the identification cards (IDs) and t-shirts that will be used as uniforms by the vendors would be ready, the Dcott management will allow the vendors to enter the terminal.
Duterte said vendors would attend lectures for them to be trained to assist in security and to be the eyes and ears within the terminal premises.
Task Force Davao Chief Eduardo del Rosario, meanwhile, said his men are still on their toes despite the downgrade.
"We cannot relax," Colonel del Rosario said. Both the police and the military continue to set up random checkpoints in the city.
Elements of the Regional Mobile Group established Monday morning a checkpoint along R. Castillo, Agdao fronting Sun.Star Davao office.
