UP-Min rules bootfest

MACE Vilela hit the net three minutes into the second half to give University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Min) a 1-0 win over the Lady Footballers' Club of Cagayan de Oro B and clinch the Women's Summer Football Festival at the Pelaez Sports Complex over the weekend.

Vilela's goal came from a corner kick by teammate Krishna Hernandez. Vilela was named Most Valuable Player as veteran Keith Shelly Canton was best goalkeeper.

UP Min players Analu Ingles and Janice Celestial took the best striker and best defender titles, respectively.

The champion was also bannered by Cherry Rose Concon, Zaidi Ong, Lorenz Tolentino and Maria Picar.

LFC president Maria Elizabeth IV "Betsy" F. Cueto and tournament coordinator Elna Furio along with CMOFA men's team head coach Joe Lapuz handed the prizes to the winners in the awarding rites.

UP Min blanked LFC-A, 1-0, while LFC-B routed Bukidnon A, 3-0, in the crossover semi-finals to arrange a titular showdown. (MLS)
