Held at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City on March 30-31, the summit was attended by around 200 participants from PCFCs partner institutions.

The summit's plenary speakers focused their discussions on the goal of one million microfinance clients within five years.

Professor Ronald Chua of Asan Institute of Management lectured on issues and concerns relating to expansion of the operations of microfinance institutions (MFIs).

Flordeliza Sarmiento of the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development and Ruth Callanta of the Center for Community Transformation shared their best practices regarding client development and value added services.

Other contributing speakers were Teresa Abesamis, Nicanor Perlas and distinguished guests from partner government agencies.

Davao City Vice Mayor Luis Bonguyan welcomed the participants while Congressman Prospero Pichay gave the opening remarks.

In his speech, Representative Pichay lauded the achievement of the Mindanao microfinance institutions and challenged them to reach more poor in the coming years.

PCFC President Iluminada Cabigas closed the Summit with a challenge to the partners to continue serving the poor. (AMA)
