Exercise sobriety, Avisado tells Tizon, Olanolan camps By Aurea A. Gerundio
FOLLOWING the Supreme Court's (SC) decision recognizing Celso Tizon as the duly elected barangay chairman of Barangay 76-A, Bucana, Davao City, not Roberto Olanolan, City Administrator Wendel Avisado urged both camps Monday to exercise sobriety.
Avisado said he received reports that armed barangay policemen in the area, led by Olanolan, pulled off the streamers welcoming Tizon as the barangay chairman.
Avisado said if the barangay police will get involved and violate the law, then they will be arrested by the Philippine National Police.
"They should not use guns for political feud," Avisado said.
Tizon, meanwhile, said he wrote a letter to the Department of Interior and Local Government 11 on April 13 requesting the implementation and execution of SC en banc decision.
"The DILG said they would serve the SC decision either Monday or Tuesday. I hope ma-serve na," Tizon said, adding that he aims for a peaceful turn-over between him and Olanolan.
Olanolan admitted that he had the streamers of Tizon pulled off believing that the manner was a form of harassment.
Olanolan said he has not yet received the SC decision thus, he is still the chairman of the barangay.
"Sila (Tizon's camp) ang nang-harass. Nagbutang-butang sila og streamers nga ako pa man ang kapitan. Wala pud mi nanghulga. Ako nagsugo sa barangay police nga tanggalon ang streamers (They are the ones harassing. They put up streamers while I am still the chairman. We did not impose threat. I ordered the barangay police to pull off the streamers)," Olanolan said.
Olanolan vowed he will step down from his post peacefully as soon as he receives the SC decision dismissing his petition against the Commission on Elections that earlier announced Tizon as the winner.
