Of baywalks and boardwalks By Rene B. Lumawag
PEOPLE who want to escape from the humidity and crumped atmosphere in the city and other population centers early evenings tend to find solace near the shores to breathe fresh air and unwind.
No doubt, it's so refreshing to feel the sea breeze touches one's face and body. That's why, at sundown on a clear day we usually witness a sea of humanity trooping to Davao City's waterfront areas such as the Magsaysay Park, the Times Beach, the Seagull at Punta Dumalag and the other beach resorts lining the shores of Talomo, Daliao and Sirawan in Davao City and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
A similar trend is noticeable in the city of Manila and the famous freeport of Subic in Olongapo--two places we visited in a junket to Luzon early this month, courtesy of Globe Telecoms. But with a slight twist.
In Manila, the most popular haunt of sundown crowd seeking to unwind after a hard days' work is The Baywalk. In Subic, they call it The Boardwalk. Both are located on the baysides, the first by the Manila Bay, the second by the Subic Bay.
Both are no ordinary promenades. Apart from the panorama and soothing sea breeze, they also offer excellent food and music from the restobars dotting the baysides.
We share you some of the pictures we took when we visited these places in the first week of April.
