Four CDST swimmers join national team
NOT one but four Coastland Davao Swim Team (CDST) mainstays grabbed slots to the Southeast Asia (SEA) Age-Group Swimming Championships-bound national junior team after passing the nationwide try-outs in Manila with flying colors.
Bemedaled Batang Pinoy tanker Jose Joaquin "Joboy" Gonzalez and his cousin Celina Gonzalez along with Alyanna Malabanan and Francis Isaguirre will fight for flag and country in the coming Brunei meet.
Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa) regional director Deedee Gonzalez added, "General Santos City bets Nikita Dacera and Nico Villagante also made it to the team."
Deedee said her son Joboy and Isaguirre will also represent the Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa) in the elementary boys event of the Palarong Pambansa on May 8 to 14 in Iloilo City.
"Joining them in the team are Bajjio Malabanan and one swimmer from Panabo," Deedee said.
Celina and Alyanna, however, will see action in the elementary girls category along with fellow Dabawenyos Bea Nazareno and Stephanie Decierdo.
Davraa held a selection at Ladislawa pool Friday where Davao tankers swept most of the Palaro slots at stake.
The other Palaro qualified swimmers are Davao's Allan Jovero and Junie Barani with Panabo's Emmanuel Plasabas and Danilo Miedes who will all play in the secondary boys division.
BIMP-Eaga Friendship Games veteran Julliani Rodriguez, Analie Rodriguez, Gianina Gonzalez and Windeeline Pobre will play in the girls side. (MLS)
