All about cakes
By Jojie Alcantara

GOOD news for those with a sweet tooth! Temptation is just around the corner.

Blame it on three beautiful sisters whose love for pastries and sweet delicacies brought them together for a concoction that's right up our palates. This pastry shop is aptly called, All About Cakes.

All About Cakes has been in the city for quite some time now, located inside the regularly frequented Rizal Promenade. Early this year, they moved out and settled along Rizal road where everybody can get a good look at their latest pastries.

The three sisters of the Rabat clan from my hometown of Mati, Davao Oriental are Kara Francisco, Rochelle del Rosario and Tanya Tan.

Pursuing their hobbies of concocting delicious baked goodies (I loved the buko pie they used to make!), they are regularly coming up with new ones to whet our appetites. Take for example the Lemon Torte cake, Cookies and Cream cupcakes and the Sugarfree Chocolate Cheesecake that sounds good for dieters. Yum!

It was a pleasant get-together when the sisters (minus Kara) and good friend Candice Respicio invited Mindanao Times publisher Josie San Pedro, Mindanao Insider editor Debbie Uy, Department of Tourism's photographer Rhonson Ng, and me inside their little coffee shop that's daintily painted with apple green and sky blue.

Over coffee and cakes, Tita Josie regaled us with tales of the past back when she first climbed Mount Apo! It was fun to watch her animated moves and huge smile as she talked about the misadventures up there when grasses were over their heads and everything was pitch black around them.

Top it with sips of good coffee and its aroma, plus helpings of sinful slices that melt in the mouth. They even sent us home with boxes of small heart shaped chocolate cakes.

All About Cakes serves delicious pasta too, like pesto, a favorite of Candice and mine. Follow your sweet tooth!
