5 theft incidents reported By Joy G. Romares
FIVE separate theft incidents were reported in a day at the Santa Ana police precinct, Friday.
The first victim was identified as one Lirabel Parilla, 27, of Trading in Bucana, Davao City.
Information gathered from Senior Police Officer 3 Joel Banosan, desk officer of the Santa Ana police precinct, showed the incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. while Parilla was onboard a passenger jeepney cruising along Quezon Boulevard.
But when the vehicle reached near the Piapi Public Market, an unidentified man who was seated beside her grabbed her gold necklace.
Banosan said Parilla's necklace was broken, only its gold pendant worth P3,500 was taken away by the suspect.
Parilla told police that the suspect alighted from the jeepney and casually walked towards the interior part of the public market.
Parilla said the incident was so sudden that she was not able to shout for help.
Thirty minutes later, one Yolanda Barangay, 52, a stay-in house helper at Sobrecarey Street, appeared at the Santa Ana police precinct and reported that she saw two unidentified male teenagers climbing out their fence.
Barangay then checked outside only to see the suspects running away with several scrap irons.
She told police she then checked on their garage where several scrap irons were kept and discovered that some were already missing.
Her employer, Letty Yu, was already informed about the incident, Barangay said.
Meanwhile, at around 12:30 p.m., a nursing student of the San Pedro College named Louie Andrew Tolentino, 19, of El Rio Vista Subdivision, was on his way to school walking along Sta. Ana Avenue near the Holy Cross of Davao College when two concerned witnesses informed him that an unidentified man opened the zipper of his backpack.
It was only later when Tolentino discovered that his Nokia 3310 mobile phone, his wallet containing a total amount of P2,500, driver's license, ATM card, and some important school receipts were already missing.
Julan Cuenco, 21, security guard, and resident of Trading in Quezon Boulevard told police that he was sleeping inside his house at around 5:30 p.m. when he was awakened after he heard someone has slammed the door.
Cuenco stood up by the door and saw two men running away from his house.
Cuenco then checked on his belongings and noticed that his Nokia 3510 mobile phone and his wallet containing P1,800 were missing.
Cuenco said that his security guard license was also placed inside his wallet together with other pertinent documents.
At around 8:30 p.m. one Diana Rose Canoy, 22, cashier, and resident of Barangay 21-C Piap in Quezon Boulevard was on her way home onboard a passeger jeepney from Bajada.
But when the vehicle reached the Quezon Boulevard, Canoy said she opened her bag to get her fare, and saw that the zipper of her bag was already opened and her Nokia 1100 cell phone missing.
Canoy said she was suspicious of her male co-passenger who alighted near the Roxas Avenue and flagged down another jeepney bound north.
Canoy described the man to have medium build, with dark complexion, in his 20's, who was clad in a black polo shirt and maong pants.
Canoy added that the man was bringing a big backpack and a long folder.
The five incidents are referred to the theft and robbery section of the Sta. Ana police precinct.
