Bear Brand holds record kitefest

THERE was heavy traffic in the skies of Davao City Sunday particularly above the Agro football grounds as Bear Brand Kitefest 2005 registered a record 1,554 kites, making the Davao leg the biggest event in the country's kite-flying history.

The Flying Goldfish, Nemo, The Rooster and even Mickey Mouse, plus other kites of different colors and sizes soared high to the delight of hundreds of spectators, who braved the summer heat just to have a glimpse of history in the making.

The 1,554 entries surpassed the 1,500 entries registered in Cagayan de Oro this year.

Now on its 15th year, the Bear Brand Kitefest also had stops in Dumaguete, Lingayen, Tacloban, General Santos City and Palawan.

From Davao, the kitefest will culminate at the Rizal Park in Manila on May 15. (CRAM)
