Armed men spray bullets on family By Joy G. Romares
A COUPLE and their 31-year-old son are in critical condition at the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital after unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men sprayed their house with bullets in Mati, Davao Oriental, Tuesday night.
The victims were identified as Romulo Palmera, 56, his wife Loida, 54, and his son Jovel, 31, residents of Barangay Don Martin in Marundon, Mati.
The victims had just had their dinner at around 7 p.m. and were about to go out of their house to attend a vigil in the neighborhood when four men on board two motorcycles arrived and sprayed them with bullets from a carbine rifle.
Jovel sustained serious wounds in the body and face, while his parents were both hit by bullets in the legs.
Reports said that the family has not offended anyone in their place.
The motive of the incident has yet to be established. The Mati police are conducting further investigation to identify the suspects. (With Neelan Luciano)
