Military builds forward base facility
THE Special Operations Command (Socom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines has decided to build a forward base facility for government troops assigned in Davao Region.
Socom chief Major General Germogenes Esperon said they started the construction of the facility on April 18 and expects it to be through by June.
He said the P2.4 million facility will be composed of an administrative building, company barracks and supply room.
Esperon said once finished, their forward base facility located inside the Naval Base camp in Panacan, Davao City could house around 110 soldiers at a time.
The general said this is part of their modernization program in line with their effort to provide their soldiers with a comfortable accommodation whenever they are assigned in the area.
It was learned that the Socom had detailed two battalions of Scout Rangers and Special Forces soldiers in the region to reinforce the ongoing major military operations in Southern and Northeastern Mindanao. (BOT)
