40 bets vie for honors in TJ Hotdog shootout
FORTY players will vie for honors in the Tender Juicy Hotdog Basketball Shootout Finals on Saturday at the NCCC Mall activity area from 1 p.m to 6 p.m.
This was bared Thursday by Purefoods Hormel spokesperson Joan Miranda during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn.
"The participants in the finals were winners in the eliminations that started in March 30. The finalists will all play the shootout using 15 balls within 45 seconds allotted for each player," Miranda said.
She said the champion will receive a cash prize of P2,500 with trophy while the next three placers will get P1,500, P1,000 and P500, respectively.
Twenty consolation prizes of P300 worth of NCCC gift certificates will also be given away in the tournament for 13 to 16 years old.
"We will also be awarding the highest pointer and Batang TJ with Purefoods products and trophies," Miranda added.
She said side events like a shootout, hotdog eating contest, product sampling and TJ mascot appearance will add spice to the one-day festivity aimed at entertaining not just participants but also NCCC shoppers.
The finalists are Chubby Castolo, Jonathan Costaños, Daniel dale Vistal, Ric Anthony Parrot, Moammar Hadji Ali, Virgel Clarde, Mariano Faelnar, Sim James Acas, Carl Marvin Agcopra, Maverick Candia, Vicyes Gilles, Benjamin Zosa, Arc Espino, Alexis Gamil, Andrew Buenavista, Alvin Simo, Chuck Imas, Dominic Diamante, Darrel Colanag; John Aldwin Galvez, John Secretaria, Jeffrey Acierto, Zenaida Gumanid, Isidro Socorro Jr., Peter Lorejo, Jerson Diamola, Artemio Valleser Jr., Robert Cabarubias, Agustino Bacus, Elaise Alagase, Jeffrey Simbulas, O'Neill Galo, Russel Bayer, Cyril Torreon, John Rusiana, Jessie Lastimado, Glenn Rebuta, Roland Ybañez and Marlon Vidal.
Meanwhile, Miranda said preparations shift to high gear for the 2nd TJ Basketball 3-on-3 at the Gaisano Mall set sometime in July to August.
"We are excited to hold the second year of the 3-on-3 with the very good turnout of entries last year," Miranda said. (MLS)
