POLICE are hunting down an alleged illegal recruiter, who duped two women inside a hotel along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City.
Welma Talungon, 33, self-employed, resident of San Lorenzo Village, Bago Gallera, along with her friend named Valentina Luspoc, self-employed, of Santo Domingo in Sasa, this city, complained before the Santa Ana police precinct at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday that an alleged Korean national, identified as Haydita Kim, 30, with no permanent address in the city, collected P9,000 from them in exchange for work in Korea.
The victims said the incident happened at around noon of March 31, inside room 316 at the third floor of the Sychar Garden Hotel along J.P. Laurel, this city.
The victims claimed Kim demanded money for processing fee and promised them work as factory workers in Korea.
Talungon said she paid P6,000, while Luspoc shelled out P3,000 on the same day hoping they could leave the country after a month.
"Wala ta kabalo kung mao ba gyud ang pangalan sa suspect, basin og nag alias lang pud na. Kaila daw nila ning suspect dugay-dugay na kay gipailaila pud ni sa ilang amiga (We do not know if the suspect only used another name, but the victims said they knew the suspect who was introduced by a friend)," Senior Police Officer 4 Jun Laride, of the Sta. Ana police precinct said.
